Tikapur is located 15 km south of the East- West Highway and 10km from the Indian border. It can be reached by bus from Dhangadhi (3h) and from Nepalgunj (2h).
The picturesque town of Tikapur can be found close to the longest river of Nepal – the Karnali. During the reign of King Mahendra, Tikapur was chosen as the place for the biggest and most beautiful park in Nepal: the Royal Gardens of Tikapur. The natural and fresh environment of the gardens had positive effects on the king’s health. Hence, this place is also known as “King Mahendra‘s retreat.” Since then, the park has not lost its qualities but remains a popular destination for everyone who seeks recreation in nature.
Not far from the park, Tikapur offers you a culinary highlight: the Banana Restaurant. Here you can relish a variety of food products made out of banana, such as mo-mos, chips, ice-cream, and wine. But not only the fruits of the tree come to good use here. Visitors can also buy handicrafts created from parts of the banana stem, so that as little as possible of the tree goes to waste.
