Tihar, the festival of lights, is one of the most dazzling Hindu festivals in Nepal. The Goddess of Wealth, Laxmi, is worshiped and all the houses are decorated with lamps of all kinds. During the night this makes entire villages and cities look like they are sparkling.

So did Dhangadhi: It was literally enlightend and sparkled in all kinds of colours one can imagine. Red, blue, green, yellow, purple and many more coloured light chains hang from houses, over entrances and on the streets, candles and oil lamps were lit at every corner.
