A moderate hike typically lasts half a day and some previous hiking experience is recommend-ed. Parts of the trail may be steep, walks can last up to 6 hours and a good level of fitness is required.
What to Experience ?
Around 70 kilometres from Dhangadhi is Asia’s largest herd of Swamp Deer at the Suklaphanta National Park. We combine a drive into the jungle to view this herd. Not far from the National Park we undertake a small hike to the Jilmila lake, where you can enjoy the cool waters of the Himalayas.
The Royal Gardens of Tikapur are said to have medicinal properties, which is why the King used to come and stay here. We visit this amazing gardens in this trip and add experiences of the hospitality of the ethnic Tharus at a homestay, rafting down the Karnali and eating at a restaurant which makes everything out of Banana!
The highlight of this unique program, we raft down the Karnali River inside the National Wildlife Park of Bardia, right into the heart of the Park, while observing the jungle and hopefully some wild-life as we float by. Once we are in the park, we transfer to our jungle lodge and continue the next day with an Elephant back safari. Adrenaline rush guaranteed!
- Day 1:
Arrive in Kathmandu. Welcome and Assistance on arrival at Airport. Transfer to Hotel. Hotel Check in. Dinner and overnight in Kathman-du.
- Day 2:
Arrive in Dhangadhi airport. After lunch drive to Mahendranagar, the most westerly town located about 5 km east from Indian Border. Visit of the longest suspension bridge of Nepal. Dinner and overnight at hotel in Mahendranagar.
- Day 3:
After breakfast 1-day- hike near Mahendranagar. We can enjoy being in a hilly forest impregnated with mint and lemongrass aromas. On the highest point of the hills we will have a great view of India, as well as of the amazing scenery of the Terai on the way back. The highlight of this hike is the mysterious lake Jalmilla.
- Day 4:
Breakfast at Hotel. After breakfast drive to Suklaphanta Wildlife Reserve. Full day safari program. Overnight stay at tented camp.
- Day 5:
Drive to Dhangadhi . Bird watching at Mohana River Corridor. Breakfast. Check-in in the hotel. Afternoon cycling to the Jokhar Lake. Dinner and overnight in Dhnagadhi.
- Day 6:
After breakfast drive to Chisapanee. It is a start point of the boating through the largest river of Nepal – Karnali River. After three hours of boating we will reach Tikapur, wich is famous for banana cuisine and wine. In the evening we will have our dinner in the beautiful Banana Resort!
- Day 7:
In the morning visit of the Royal Gardens of Tikapur. After lunch, 4 hrs drive to Bardiya National park. Arrive Thakurdwara and discover Tharu Life and Culture. Amazingly unique Tharu culture and their tradition capture and spell a cast on the visitor. Dinner and Overnight at Lodge.
- Day 8:
After breakfast, Elephant Safari. After Lunch, Bird Watching and jungle walk in Bardiya National park. Jungle Safari on Elephant’s back supplies a prominent view of the Park. Dinner and Overnight at Lodge.
- Day 9:
AM: Leisure at Bardiya National park. After lunch, drive to Nepalgunj airport to connect flight to Kathmandu. Overnight stay at hotel.
- Day 10:
Breakfast at Hotel. Full day sightseeing. AM: Visit 2000 years old Buddhist shrine Swyambhunath, Kathmandu Durbar Square- The Old Royal Palace of Kathmandu, Temple of living goddess Kumari PM: Visit Patan City second largest city of valley.
- Day 11:
Breakfast at Hotel. Free time till departure to Airport.
